The THRIVE Programme FAQ's
Frequently Asked Questions
It is of course perfectly understandable that you have questions that you'd like to have answered before you commit to changing your life. So, please see below for some of the questions that I am asked quite regularly.
If you can't find what you're looking for, feel free to contact me using the details at the bottom of the page and I'll do my best to answer .
You can, but it is not advisable for a couple of reasons:
1. There is nothing like this programme, so it’s very likely that any other intervention you are going through will conflict in some manner, lessening the positive affects.
2. When your self-esteem starts to rise you begin to create super-confident and you start to overcome your symptoms. At this point you need to see – very clearly – that it is your new-found thriving skills that are achieving the success. If you are doing some other treatment programme/seeing a therapist as well, how are you going to know what is having such a great effect on your life?
The Thrive Programme® brings together scientific research and years of clinical experience in a unique and dynamic manner that is easily accessible to all. Although many other training courses and techniques do focus upon some similar concepts to Thrive, most don’t go into the same in-depth detail of the underlying fundamentals nor integrate the knowledge in such a comprehensive manner. It is because Thrive Programme® clients are helped to attain a very high degree of self-awareness, that they are able to clearly see what they need to do in order to ‘get better’, and why they are then also willing to put in as much effort as is required.
Unlike some other courses The Thrive Programme® is empowering because it is understandable and accessible. It is not based upon ‘magical’, disempowering beliefs. The Thrive Programme® is not therapy or a treatment programme where something is ‘done to’ a person. It is all about empowering people to make the necessary changes for themselves.
One of the greatest things about the Thrive Programme® is that you can change your life dramatically, and for good in just a matter of weeks – the average client takes less than two months. Having said that, you need to undertake the WHOLE programme – you cannot pick individual elements and expect to get the same results as someone completing the whole programme.
However, the Thrive Programme® is unit’s not a set of techniques. To get results you need to work through the whole programme from start to finish and apply persistent and continuous effort throughout. You will learn how your thinking styles have developed and how to change them. This will involve short reflective exercises and actions that help you to implement what you have learnt so you can make simple but really effective changes in your life.
It’s best to embark on the programme when you have a few weeks to focus on it. It doesn’t take long but you need to be able to dedicate time, energy and commitment in order to see achieve maximum results. Feedback from people who have completed the programme is very positive – doing the Thrive Programme® is really enjoyable, and the quicker you start, the sooner you’ll be thriving.
If you have special needs… Autistic/dyslexic/ blind etc I can tailor the programme for you, to make sure you get the very most out of it.
We can discuss this at your initial consultation as this depends on a number of factors. All children under sixteen, however, must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Approximately 30% of my clientele are people under the age of 18, and I think it’s a perfect time to start learning to thrive. Teaching children how to understand their thinking and how to manage their responses to life’s events is a great gift; something that will serve them throughout their lives. ‘The Thrive Programme® for teenagers’ is suitable for young people from aged approximately ten years old.
As your coach, I am there to help explain, support, and guide each teenager through the programme. Parental support is also invaluable and necessary, and often parents report huge personal benefit to completing the programme with their child.
As explained, I am there to explain things clearly using memorable analogies, pictures, and metaphors to ensure that the message really stays in your child’s mind. If your child has ANY psychological or emotional issue, the Thrive Programme® has proven effectiveness in helping them to overcome these issues, but, more importantly, to learn to thrive.
Please note that all children under the age of eighteen must have a parent/guardian present at their sessions. This is discussed at greater length during the free consultation.
The appeal of hypnotherapy is entirely understandable. When people feel powerless about resolving their anxiety or symptom, who wouldn’t like the idea of being ‘put out to sleep’ to find that your problems are gone when you wake up! This CAN indeed sometimes be the case when the client has a minor symptom or limiting belief. In this case, suggestion hypnosis may well be all that person needs to get over that blip in their life. Hypnosis may have its benefits but it’s not something I use with my clients. From my own experience and taking the data into account, The Thrive Programme® is a more empowering and long-lasting method.
Symptoms, whether it’s depression, anxiety, phobias, OCD, insomnia are the direct result of our THINKING! Therefore, in order to permanently overcome a symptom, the most empowering thing we can do is understand and address the thinking that caused it in the first place. Hypnosis may well change our thinking about a certain issue, but without the substance or foundation to support the new thinking/beliefs we run the risk of quickly undoing the hypnosis suggestions by reverting to old ways of thinking.
The aim of Hypnosis is to suggest away symptoms. However, symptoms are only the END RESULT of other issues – whether it’s issues with our self esteem, social anxiety or feeling out of control. Therefore, unless these primary issues are addressed, many positive results of hypnotherapy are unlikely to be permanent. The good news is that it really is quite simple to change the real cause of our symptoms in an empowering and permanent way – which is what The Thrive Programme® aims to do in just 6-8 weeks.
Our aim is to help empower people with a training programme that is predictable and understandable – and unfortunately results achieved from hypnotherapy are neither of these things.
Counseling can be beneficial by allowing a client to off-load or talk through a problem. This is particularly useful if that person is unable to talk to friends or family. However, the disadvantage of counseling can be that you may find yourself going over old ground, dredging up past hurts and experiences and bringing those pains to the surface but with no resolution or change of perspective.
This is particularly the case with counseling that is focussed on discussing people’s childhoods. Very often, when people feel unhappy with themselves or their lives in the here and now, they feel powerless to change themselves, their behaviour or their circumstances… and hope that by resolving past issues will help their present days problems. However, going back to the past is rarely the answer. You may gain more insight into why you behave as you do….although it doesn’t necessarily mean that you feel empowered enough to overcome problems or change your life now.
With The Thrive Programme®, the focus is upon your thoughts TODAY. We are looking at the processes by which anxiety and symptoms are created: HOW you think about things, rather than WHAT you are thinking about. This explains why some days people may have their symptom and other days they do not – their lives may not have changed but their thinking has.
The Thrive Programme® is entirely different to techniques such as NLP or CBT, even if on the surface they may sound similar.
Thrive doesn’t just focus upon giving a person some isolated insights, tools and techniques to cope with a symptom or problem. These approaches are ‘fire-fighting’ – trying to control or reduce the anxiety AFTER we have already created it by our thinking. Often people tire quickly of having to maintain this level of effort of fending of negative thoughts. The Thrive Programme® is about Thriving and overcoming symptoms is just a part of that. It is about creating strong psychological foundations (eg, good self esteem) so that we are not creating anxiety. You don’t need to fire-fight if you are not setting fires in the first place!
The Thrive Programme® is a comprehensive training course, which provides people with unique self-insights that enables them to develop the beliefs, resources and motivation to build resilience and make positive changes across all areas of their lives. It is of limited value teaching you any sort of ‘positive thinking’ or CBT or NLP techniques unless you understand the component parts of your thinking and beliefs that continue to create the anxiety. If you are not able to understand or alter the driving forces behind your symptoms or anxiety, it can feel as though you are ‘treading water’ trying to fend off negative thoughts.
Thrive is a training programme and not therapy. It is not about someone else doing something for you or to you but about YOU taking control of your life. It is so much more empowering to take control of your own problems, rather than someone else resolving them for you.
This is one of, if not, the most common question I am asked. Firstly, I do understand why people may doubt whether the programme will work for them and/or have fears about it not. This will almost certainly exacerbate if there are numerous failed attempts at other interventions, and/or having a helpless mindset.
As I’ve said numerous times on this site, although I understand this doubtful thinking / scepticism, it’s strongly advisable you have an in-depth look at my site and other social media platforms, so you can see, first-hand, how The Thrive Programme® is vastly different than anything out there.
Secondly, the reality is, the programme doesn’t ‘work’ for people. This may come as a surprise to you but think about it - how can a programme work FOR YOU. The programme doesn’t ‘do’ anything ‘to’ you, it’s YOU that completes the programme.
Throughout the programme, you’ll attend numerous sessions with me, have homework to do, videos to watch and exercises to complete. One of the major reasons why the results of the programme are transformational is for this very reason – YOU DO IT. It’s YOU that makes the changes by ‘doing’ the programme. A little bit like a physical training programme, YOU must go to your gym classes, manage your diet, and put the effort in. It’s not the coach, diet plan or gym that does that for you, YOU do that.
As your coach, I’m there to coach, mentor, and guide you step by step to make the journey as smooth and fun as possible, and ensure you gain the very best results. However, as I explained above, your role is significant, therefore, it’s important you start the programme with an open-minded attitude, willing to learn and put in the time and effort required to complete the programme fully. Only then, will the programme ‘work’ for you.
When you learn to thrive you learn how to eradicate your problems and symptoms. Why settle for an average, stressed, unhappy or unfulfilling life – you’ve only got one shot at it? Who doesn’t want to experience life at its very best, feeling powerful, in control and flourishing?
